Director Recruitment

Refugees & Mentors (R&M) is seeking a new director. It is desirable that the new director has direct experience of seeking asylum in the UK.

R&M aim to support refugees and migrants to improve their employment prospects and get jobs.

Directors are unpaid, however on occasion may deliver some of our work, for which they will be paid, subject to suitability and budget.

R&M work includes:

 Employment Mentoring Project for refugees living in Manchester and Salford

 Employability courses for refugees and migrants

 Partnership with Rainbow Haven in Gorton, to deliver the Rainbow Haven Work Club

In 2018 we were awarded the NCVO national quality standard for mentoring.

Over the next few years we aim to develop our existing services, create work opportunities and better meet the needs of skilled refugees. To do this R&M board needs to increase its capacity, skills and insight into the employment needs of refugees and migrants.

We are seeking a new third director, who is committed and passionate about our aim.

As a minimum, directors are required to:

 Volunteer two hours per week and attend directors meetings

 Have a good level of English and organisational skills

 Offer support to help steer the future direction of R&M

 Understand the employment issues faced by refugees and migrants and champion our work

In return we can offer a unique development experience, reasonable out of pocket expenses and the possibility of some paid work delivering or developing services.
