Placements make the difference

Thank you to Transport for London for hosting a paid Returner Placement for one of our architectural candidates, an experienced architect from Syria (second left in picture). With 10 years of experience as an architect this candidate’s goal is to practise as an architect in the UK. The path to this goal involves gaining UK experience and obtaining Part 1 equivalence. The TfL placement was tailored to give the candidate as much UK-specific knowledge and experience as possible, allowing her to develop her portfolio for the Part 1 Prescribed Examination, and to enable TfL to make the most of the candidate’s skills and experience. Over the course of the placement the candidate made valuable contributions to a range of current TfL projects.

““It was great having the Transitions candidate in our team for a 10 week placement, she brought a fresh perspective to our team, and it was a pleasure hosting her.” Ted Fowler, Senior Architect

In addition to architects, Transitions candidates are engineers (civil, mechanical, electrical) and business service professionals. We’re looking forward to building on the success of this placement and supporting more Returner Placements with TfL in the future.

Returner Placements provide refugee professionals with crucial UK work experience and give employers an opportunity to access skilled refugee talent. Please get in touch if you’d like to know more.
