A blog by SR about her multilingual skills in the UK jobs market. Having multilingual skills has opened doors for work and enabled me to start rebuilding my interrupted career. Using my multilingual skills to find work was something that I had been resisting for a long time, as I originally wanted to only work in my former profession as a healthcare professional. I did part time courses to become an interpreter/advocate which enabled me to help my community and was very rewarding. Since then, I’ve found work within the health promotion/public health sector and also still use my multilingual skills when necessary.
